Nick Pearce's season came back on track with wins for Simon Tindall's PEADAR and Caroline Holliday's GOLD HEART, but Peter Bull had already scored on Durante. Peadar had been pulled up on his debut at Detling in February, but the shorter trip in this Maiden seemed to suit and he pulled 16 lengths clear of his rivals.
MERRY VIC beat Highland Chief in the Mens' Open, while BADGER and Caroline Taylor took the Ladies'.
GOLD HEART's win, by a comfortable 15 lengths from He's On His Way, was his fourth of the season.
The Members' race went to outsider ACHIEVED, riden by Gordon Gallagher and trained by D.C.O'Brien.
Heavy ground reduced the number of runners at Aldington to 18 and two of the races were matches. Highlight was the reappearance of HONOURABLE SPIDER, whose win in the Mixed Open over Hannah Grissell and Ben Alder was a hard-fought two lengths.
TOBOUGG WELCOME and Philip Hall won the Open Maiden, beating Particular Man and Kelly Keefe who had finished second to Peadar at Charing two days earlier. He's On His Way and Tom Cannon went one better than their second to Gold Heart at Charing by winning the Veteran & Novice Riders' race by seven lengths from Myson.
Peter Bull's two wins (plus a third on Master Alf) gave him what may turn out to be an unassailable lead in the men's jockey championship. Nearest rival Nick Pearce chose to ride in Nottinghamshire, giving Tom Cannon the chance to challenge him for second spot with hjis win and three seconds over the holiday period.
GOLD HEART won Charing's Club Conditions race by 15 lengths, his fourth win of the season.
Hannah Grissell and Ben Alder, nearest camera, gave HONOURABLE SPIDER and Peter Bull a fright, challenging from three out and going down by a hard-fought two lengths at the line.
HONOURABLE SPIDER at the tenth fence.
TOBOUGG WELCOME and Philip Hall won the Aldington 3m Maiden.
SUPA TRAMP
Briony Gifford and No Stranger. It was Briony's debut ride, and she led for a long way before pulling up in the desperate conditions. The win went to stablemate MAJOR BLUE, ridden by Jody Sole for trainer Libby Lawson, whose family owned and trained three of the four hunt race runners.
