Nobody counts chickens in point-to-pointing, but supporters of Team Tindall and his rider trainer Nick Pearce came to Godstone's first meeting of the season full of hope. Owner Simon Tindall had strong contenders for five of the seven races, but it was to be a day of triumph and disaster for the South East's biggest supporter of the sport. His first runner was beaten at odds-on, his second, also favourite, was pulled up, and his third was fatally injured in a fall. It could only get better - and it did. His famous blue and yellow colours were ridden to victory in the Mens' Open and the Mares' and Fillies' Maiden to provide some much deserved consolation for the team.
